Gala Fabric Shopping Day
Bianca SilvaHello, hello!
Today we had the first of our events that are part of the Sewn at Midnight Gala events! 🎉
I am so happy that so many of you (ticket holders) managed to make it.
The atmosphere was so lovely with some music, tea and cake, and lots of fabric!
I’ve just got all the more excited listening to outfit plans and seeing all the fabrics that were purchased to make said plans.
Lots of shiny bits, lace, animal prints and so much more. I literally can’t wait to see this all come together!
And I am very glad that no one went for the fabric that I’m potentially going to use for my outfit. 🤭
I haven’t settled on what I’m going to make just yet, but there is somewhat of a plan in my head.
You will probably see me panic sewing the night before trying to finish my dress. 😂
Thank you so much to all who made it. Now we have the next one to look forward to - the Janome sewing day!

In other Janome news, I have added another date for the Multi-Purpose Organiser Quilted Bag at Janome because the first one sold out really quickly!
It’s going to be on the 17th of April with everything included.
There are only 4 spots left on it now. If you want to learn more about it: Click here!

We also had World Book Day earlier this week. Did any of you make outfits for the little ones in your life?
I had no time at all so we reused some outfits.
I had made my eldest a Frozen inspired gown 2 years ago so my youngest got to wear it this time round.
Then for my eldest, I got a Spanish flamenco inspired dress that a work colleague made years ago, so that’s what she wore.
The flamenco dress lasted the whole day intact until the after school club where my eldest went up some stairs and caught the lace under her foot.
She tore some of it off. 😣
I have some lace in my stash which I can replace it with, but for now it’s been added to the mending pile.

A little ‘My Sewing Journal update:
There has been a delay (approx. 20 days) with the suppliers which means they won’t be arriving on time.
So pre-orders have been postponed and will be running from the 26th of March to 6th of April.
I will also be extending the giveaway I am running on Instagram until the 25th of March, plus I will be giving away 3 journals now, one in each colour, instead of just one.
I am so sorry about this - it’s my first rodeo with something like this so I am learning with the process as I go.
Stitches of the Week
BeeSilva - Leon’s Fabrics Shopping Day
Today was the first event related to the Sewn at Midnight Gala! 🥳 Here are some pictures but I will add more tomorrow to Instagram.
Thank you so much to all who made it! ❤️

Ellie & Mac - Woven Pyjama Trousers (Free Pattern)
They are finished!
I made the same size I made the last time and after measuring him, he wasn’t far off the original measurements I still had from him in.
In my sewing journal I had written that I had taken an inch off the top of the trousers. The problem I had was, did I remove this inch on the paper pattern before cutting the fabric, or did I remove the inch after he tried on the trousers.
I soon realised after he tried them on with the waistband attached that I had removed it after he tried it on.
This has now specifically been entered into my journal, and now I know for next time (if there is one 😂) that I need to adjust the pattern piece first.
My partner didn’t care much about it anyway and said they were fine as they were. Men! 😂
Then I added an extra detail on the waistband to stop the elastic from moving.
I had initially stitched in the ditch at the side seams, but then I decided to stitch 2 rows right around the waistband. It feels more finished this way.
He’s been wearing these trousers ever since I finished them which obviously makes me happy.
This means these pair of trousers were the first garment I made in 2026, and we’re already in March!
Fabric: Brushed Cotton duvet from ASDA (UK supermarket) I got 5 years ago.
Size: Medium
The Win: A finished pair of pj trousers for my other half! 🎉
The Drama: Not the best fit, but he didn’t want me to spend any more time on it.

Summer Lee - Surf Wax Socks from The Sock Project book
These have slightly grown on me now.
Now that I see more of the texture it looks better. I’m still not completely convinced about the colour changing yarn. It might take me a few more weeks to learn to love it.
I’m making the legs of these a little shorter than my previous ones. I’m experimenting with the length because I want them to be able to wear them with tights or peaking out when I use ankle trousers (that I don’t currently own, but that’s another story).
I’m trying to find my sweet spot for them, and simply measuring without actually seeing them on doesn’t exactly work for me.
The heel flap was going to be blue, the same as the cuff, but I’ve decided to do it in cream to break it up a bit.
I think this chevron stitch would have looked a lot better if I had used a solid colour, but it’s more fun to get out of my comfort zone and experiment a little.
Of course I also thought about adding pink instead of blue and cream for the ribbing, heel flap and toes, but I decided against it because I can’t have all my socks with pink in them. I would like to be able to wear them with different outfits.
Yarn: Drops Fabel, yarn I got from Portugal and Hobbii Silly Socks Flower Pop in colour 10 (Forget-Me-Not)
Size: I’ve started with an L for the leg.
Needle Size: I cast on with a 2.5mm and then transferred to 2.25mm.
The Win: The legs are done!
The Drama: it’s grown on me a little, but I’m still not convinced of the colour changing yarn. I like the colours individually, but together.

Makers Spotlight
This week’s spotlight goes to @filippasytt_av_gammalt_ny1!

I am back with another make from Filippa, and you can probably guess where this fabric came from...
Ikea!
Some of their prints are just gorgeous and fun, this is such a fantastic coord.
Want to be featured in my newsletter? Just reply with a pic of your make. I’d love to see what you’ve made!😍
