"I have been to a few of Bianca's sewing workshops and especially loved her recent one! Everything had been organised to perfection so we could just enjoy the day sewing. It was a great environment too, looking forward to doing another one!"

Join me for a relaxed, supportive full day of sewing, working on the Leah pattern by Tilly and the Buttons.

Choose from three styles:

- Side Ties - a statement version featuring side ties. This is the most involved option - it will take a little longer to sew and may require some additional sewing at home.

- Shift Top - a shorter, simple and versatile style that's ideal for making good progress during the day.

- Shift Dress - much like the crop version, just longer and it’s an easy-to-wear dress with a relaxed, comfortable feel.

Whichever version you choose, I'll guide you through the construction step-by-step, helping you build your confidence, pick up useful sewing techniques along the way and create a garment you can be proud of.

What to Expect

This is a 6-hour, hands-on sewing workshop focused on making a project from start to finish.
You will have time to sew, ask questions, learn new techniques and enjoy the process of creating something for yourself.
I will be on hand throughout the day to offer guidance, troubleshoot any tricky moments and help you achieve a professional-looking finish.

Choosing the style

You can choose the style that best suits your experience, interests and sewing goals. (The Side Tides, The Shift Top and The Shift Dress)
Please note: The Side Ties version is more involved and will take longer to sew. While we will aim to make as much progress as possible during the day, you may need to finish some of the garment at home. The Shift Top and Shift Dress are more straightforward options and, with your preparation completed beforehand, you should have plenty of time to make good progress.

Before the workshop:

To make the most of our time together, you will need to do a little preparation before the workshop.
Once you have booked, I will post the physical pattern to your home address so you can prepare your pattern pieces.
An email will also be sent with information about:
- Choosing your size
- Preparing your pattern
- Selecting your fabric
You will also be asked to confirm which Leah variation you would like to make before the workshop.
Please make sure you come with:
- Your paper pattern pieces cut to your chosen size.
- Fabric pre-washed and ready to cut.
- The correct amount of fabric for your chosen version.

What’s Included

- A copy of the Tilly and the Buttons Leah pattern, posted to you before the workshop
- Full-day in-person workshop
- Fitting advice and support throughout the day.
- Lunch, Tea, coffee and refreshments
You will also be provided with a sewing machine, iron, ruler, scissors and other tools for the day.

What You Need to Bring

Supplies Needed:
- Your pattern that was sent out
- Main fabric
- 1x 8-10mm shank button
- 2.5m x 12mm (½in) wide single fold bias binding OR 0.4 meters of cotton lawn or poplin to make your own.
Fabric Suggestions:
The Shift Dress works best in medium-weight woven fabrics such as linen, twill, light-weight canvas, needlecord or jacquard.
For the other versions, cotton poplin, lawn, seersucker, viscose, linen and linen blends, work well.
The size range for the Leah is from 30 to 60 inch bust.
Note:
If you are attending the Gatley venue:
- Upon booking please advise if you would like a sewing machine provided free of charge or if you would prefer to use your own.
