FAQ

ACCOMMODATION

What's the difference between the Pod and the Cottage?

- The Pod gives you your own private space for the entire weekend.
You will have your own space which includes bathroom and kitchenette, making it perfect if you would like a little more privacy and somewhere quiet to unwind after a day of sewing.

- The Cottage is a shared accommodation option located just a few steps from the main sewing hall.
It has two bedrooms: one double room for a single guest and one twin room for two guests.
You can either book the whole cottage with friends or reserve one of the available options and share with fellow sewists. The living room, kitchen and bathroom are shared between the 3 guests staying in the cottage.
This way, you can choose between the privacy of your own pod or the sociable atmosphere of a shared cottage.

Can I come on my own?

Absolutely! In fact, many guests come on their own.

The retreat is designed to be welcoming and relaxed, so you will quickly find yourself chatting, sewing and sharing ideas with other sewists.
By the end of the weekend, you will feel like you have made friends you have known for years.

Can I book the whole cottage for two people instead of three?

Yes, you are very welcome to book the entire cottage for two people if you would prefer a little more space.

Please note that the cottage price remains the same, as the accommodation is reserved exclusively for your group regardless of whether two or three people are staying.
If you are reserving the accommodation for two people only, please let us know on your booking.

Can I choose who I share the cottage with?

If you are booking with friends, you will of course stay together.

SEWING

Do I need to be an experienced sewist?

Not at all!

Whether you are fairly new to sewing or have years of experience, you are very welcome.
The retreat is all about enjoying your hobby, learning from one another, sharing inspiration and spending a wonderful weekend with people who love sewing just as much as you do.

Do I need to bring my own fabric and supplies?

Yes, please bring your sewing machine, fabric, pattern and everything you will need for the projects you would like to work on during the weekend.

If you would rather travel lighter, you can hire one of our sewing machines when booking your retreat place.

Will there be help if I get stuck?

Of course!
I will be there throughout the weekend to offer guidance whenever you need it.
Plus, you will be surrounded by a lovely group of fellow sewists who are always happy to share tips, advice and encouragement.
No one gets left behind.

Could I hire a sewing machine for the weekend?

Yes!
If you don't want to bring your own machine, you can simply add sewing machine hire when booking your accommodation.

What tools will be available to use?

We'll have a selection of shared equipment available throughout the weekend, including:
- Overlockers
- Large cutting mats
- Rotary cutters
- Irons and ironing boards
Feel free to bring any favourite tools you would personally like to use too.

FOOD & FACILITIES

What meals are included?

Your retreat includes:
- Friday evening dinner
- Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner
- Sunday breakfast and lunch
- Unlimited tea, coffee and refreshments throughout the weekend
You will definitely be well fed while you sew!

Can you cater for dietary requirements?

Yes!
Please let us know about any dietary requirements or allergies when booking.

Will I have my own bathroom?

If you are staying in a Pod, yes. You will have your own private bathroom.
If you are staying in the Cottage, the bathroom is shared between the three guests staying there.

Is there Wi-Fi and parking?

Yes, there is free on-site parking available for all guests.
Wi-Fi is also available across the venue.

THE WEEKEND

What time does the retreat start and finish?

Check-in begins from 2:00 pm on Friday.
The retreat finishes after lunch on Sunday, with departure at 2:00 pm, giving you plenty of sewing time before heading home.

What should I pack?

We recommend bringing:
- Your sewing machine (unless you have hired one)
- Fabric, patterns and project supplies
- Basic sewing tools
- Comfortable clothes for the weekend
- Toiletries
- Slippers or cosy indoor shoes (optional but recommended!)

What if I don't know anyone else attending?

Please don't worry.
Many guests arrive on their own, and that's one of the lovely things about the retreat. Everyone is there because they share the same passion for sewing, so conversations happen naturally.
Within the first few minutes, you'll feel completely at home—and by Sunday, you'll probably be leaving with a few new sewing friends. 😊

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Cancellation and refund policy

If your plans change and you can no longer attend, please let us know as soon as possible.

Cancellations made within 7 days of the retreat will receive a partial refund, with £290 retained to cover non-refundable venue, catering and administration costs.
Unfortunately, cancellations made with less than 7 days of the retreat are non-refundable.

In the unlikely event that we need to cancel or postpone the retreat due to circumstances beyond our control, all guests will be notified as soon as possible and offered a full refund.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes! You can spread the cost of your retreat using Shop Pay, allowing you to pay in 3 or more interest-free instalments (subject to eligibility).
It's a great way to secure your place while splitting the cost into smaller payments.

Is the retreat suitable for people with accessibility needs?

We want to be as transparent as possible so you can decide if the venue is suitable for your needs.
The Pods are approximately a one-minute walk from the sewing barn across uneven ground, which may not be suitable for wheelchair users or guests with limited mobility.
The Cottage is much closer to the sewing barn with a smooth path leading to the entrance. Please note that the bedrooms are located upstairs and are accessed via a staircase.
If you have any questions about accessibility, please don't hesitate to get in touch before booking. We will be happy to discuss your individual requirements.

Can I transfer my booking to someone else?

Yes.
If you can no longer attend, you are welcome to transfer your booking to a friend.
Simply let us know their name and contact details before the retreat so we can update our guest list.
