Christmas Ornaments

This has been a busy week!
I’ve been at my daughter’s school 3 days this week! They have been performing their Christmas carols and they were just too cute!
The children were all amazing remembering the words of the script, the songs and the little dance moves! ♥️
Then I went over to Janome headquarters and got a new overlocker! 😀
I got the AT2000D which has an air threading system which is something I have never used before.
I unboxed it at the Sew&Bond yesterday and had a little go on it. It is so much better than my old one and I’m looking forward to getting used to it! 😀
Yesterday was the last Sew&Bond™ of the year and it was a good one! It was lovely to see some people who I hadn’t seen for a while!
Projects that were being worked on this time were trousers, shirts, skirts, sweaters, pinafores and a Christmas banner!
As usual, I took along some things, this time it was my felt embroidery letters but I didn’t get the chance to do anything more with them.
Unfortunately, a few people weren’t able to make this last event of the year because there is a bug going around.
It’s even claimed our household too last week, some of us were stuck in bed for a couple of days.
I hope you and your families are keeping well and these horrible bugs are not getting into your system!
Stitches of the Week
Canela Vest - Rita Made This
This vest is coming together surprisingly quickly! I don’t remember knitting it that fast before.
I have the back panel finished and I’ve started on the back.
This yarn is so nice to knit with and I think it’s the colour that’s got me excited to just keep on picking it up. 😍
I’ve been on a few more car trips than usual these last 2 weeks and that’s what allowed me to get so ahead with it.

Needle Size: 4.5mm and 5mm
The Win: It’s knitting up really fast! I may have a new vest before the end of the year! 😀
BeeSilva - Knitted Scarf
We’re going to spend Christmas with a few of our friends and one of them has a child that is friends with my daughter’s.
We asked the dad what she would like to get for Christmas and he suggested a scarf with Lilo and Angel (from Lilo and Stitch) colours.
So that’s light blue and pink.
I just so happened to have these colours in my stash that I bought in Portugal a while ago.
The pink isn’t the perfect match, but it’s close enough.
It’s not very hard to knit a scarf so I decided to just make something up. I cast on 22 stitches because I wanted to do 2x2 ribbing, starting and ending on knit stitches.
So there won’t really be a right or wrong side and it looks so much nicer than stockinette or garter stitch.
I’ve used my eldest neck and height as a measuring tool because that’s the only reference I had to get making.
I am knitting the scarf quite long too. I remember when I was younger I loved having long scarfs to wrap 5 times around my neck, so I just hope the recipient likes it too. 😂
I have about ¼ left to knit now and I want to get this one out the way as soon as I can, I don’t want to be finishing it on the way to their house. 😂

BeeSilva - Christmas Ornaments
For weeks I have been all over Pinterest and Youtube getting inspiration and knowledge on how to hand embroider felt.
It’s got me all excited but I never realised it would be so time consuming! 😣
I thought I would bust out 8 ornaments in no time and I haven’t even finished one! 😂
I started with the letter ‘D’ and it was going so well. I embroidered a stem and added french knots, but then I decided I wanted more. That’s where it started to not look right. 😂
I added lots of stars and beads, and I just don’t like how it’s going.
I moved on to another letter, ‘C’, and it’s going much better.
I’ve embroidered a stem with lazy daisy leaves and made french knots for flowers. I thought about adding more but then I decided not to.
Sometimes less is more.
To finish it up, I’m stitching another ‘C’ to the back with a blanket stitch and then I’m going to stuff it with toy stuffing.
I hope with this less is more approach I am able to move on and get at least all our initials finished in time for Christmas.

Skill Builder of the Week
Fixing an accidental cut in your fabric
I’m sure you may have accidentally cut into your fabric once upon a time. Maybe it was the scissors or the overlocker, but whichever the case, the project doesn’t have to go to waste.
There are a few ways to fix it depending on what you prefer. Here are some ideas you can use:
- Apply interfacing on the wrong side of the fabric. To make it stronger, you could use a matching colour thread and a small zigzag stitch to hold it together.
- Cover it from the right side with an iron-on patch, hand embroidery or a patch-pocket.
These small mistakes can be frustrating but they don’t have to ruin a whole project. It’s a chance to get creative and figure out how to make it work for you.
